Booking at Howlers 101
Here is all the info about booking and playing a show at Howlers Pittsburgh.
We book shows five nights a week — Wednesday through Sunday with Monday and Tuesday as days of rest. Occasionally we we will take a Monday show but we try to make that rare

We need to know the following:
Who are you? Local or touring? We need your band name, genre and a link to your music.
When? Preferred date(s), and it helps if there’s a little wiggle room. Please provide three dates in order of preference or a range of date availability.
Where? Well, that one is obvious. Howlers!
If you are a touring act, are there locals with whom you would prefer to work?
We will review your request and check for date availability, compatibility to the venue and the possibility of obtaining local support. And try to get back to as soon as possible
Show at Howlers — The Basics
Howlers is a play-for-the-door venue. We do not offer guarantees except in rare circumstances.
Finding good local support is key to a successful show. We will try to help as much as we can, but we expect you to reach out to locals with whom you may be familiar and who might like to play a show. We can provide a Pittsburgh Media list to help you with promotion.
Local Pittsburgh Bands
We expect you, at a minimum, to promote the show to your fans, family and friends. We work hard to promote the bar and events at Howlers, we can join together to reach out to those you know.
We will list all shows locally in the free listings, on our website and through social media. We can only promote the venue, you know your fan base better than we do. Working together will create a much better show for you and Howlers. Communication is key!
Cover / Door Charges
Howlers does not collect a sound fee. Our techs are well trained, and part of our staff. We do, however have to collect a fee of $10 per show. The City of Pgh imposes a 5% entertainment tax on the door which the bands are responsible for paying. Bands have the option to set their own door /cover charge on weekday shows. Entertainers have the option of bringing their own people to work their door or the use of one of our staff for a fee of $45 . You MUST tell us at the time of booking which you prefer for us to properly staff your event
Working the Door
Repeat.. For weekday shows (Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday), we ask that you provide someone from your camp to work the door.
On weekends (Friday and Saturday) Howlers will have a staff / door person available for a $45 charge.
Should you have a weekday show and would like us to provide a door person, we will bring in a staff member ($40 fee), but let us know at the time of booking if you require this service. If you do not let us know at the time of booking, we will not provide a door person (no exceptions).
21-plus only. We are a bar and the Pennsylvania Liquor Control is pretty strict. Sorry minors, we cannot accommodate any Under-21 shows.
Our capacity is 150.
You can start loading in anytime after 6 pm. Our sound tech usually arrives by 7:30 pm on weeknights and by 8:30 pm on weekends. If you need early sound checks or an adjusted show time, please let us know.
Weekday shows have a midnight curfew — there is no exception to this rule. Please understand we have neighbors and we need to be considerate.
Friday and Saturday shows can go until 1:30 am.
Howlers has an excellent sound system. The room has been made acoustically sound. Our sound techs are all well trained and very good at what they do. We do not generally allow outside sound techs.
We have a large stage that can accommodate all of your equipment and bands with numerous members.
We have a pretty basic lighting system, mostly oranges and blues on a fader. Should you feel the need to bring in extra lights, please have this approved ahead of time. We do not always have the power or space to handle extra lighting.
We provide some cheap drafts or mixed drinks, soda and water for the performers.
